FANCY A GRANT FOR REGIONAL MEETINGS & EVENTS?
Right now is the time to apply for a grant from the NSW Regional Business Event Development Fund.
The fund is designed to encourage, and support exciting business events for regional NSW and to support new business event initiatives enriched by the opportunities offered by towns and regions.
[A mouthful, but pretty much what it says on the packet.]“This is an exciting program,” says Sharon Levingston, General Manager Events at The Events Authority.
“It provides funding for events and meetings in New South Wales’ gorgeous regions—perfect for a corporate retreats and conferences that meet the program’s criteria,” adds Levingston.
The program has 4 streams:
- CREATION OF A NEW BUSINESS EVENT
Encouraging towns and regions to create their own new conferences and business events. - ATTRACTION OF AN EXISTING BUSINESS EVENT
To assist rural and regional NSW attract conferences, business events and major expos from capital cities, interstate or overseas. - SUPPORT FOR AN EXISTING BUSINESS EVENT
To support events that are held in regional NSW and may rotate between locations. - SUPPORT FOR A BUSINESS EVENT PROJECT
To assist in the implementation of business event initiatives that drive growth in regional NSW’S visitor economy. This could be a business event series or roadshow; or a satellite element of a capital city or interstate business event.
So how much funding is available?
The funding pool is $500,000, and will be offered until 30 April 2021 or until the pool of funds available has been expended.
You can apply for funding at the following levels:
- Up to $15,000 for a business event with projected attendance up to 150 delegates.
- Up to $30,000 for a business event with projected attendance over 150 delegates.
“We encourage you to act now to give yourself the best chance of accessing some of that funding. We’re here to help, too. We’d love to collaborate and help you through the application process,” says Levingston.
The program will be administered by Destination NSW, and applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis until the funds have been expended.
Funding is to be matched dollar-for-dollar by local communities, councils, entrepreneurs, associations, corporations, professional conference organisers or grants received by other Local, State and Federal Government Departments.
